Merbau is an extremely popular choice for outdoor decking and other construction projects because it is highly durable, naturally resilient against termites and rotting. What is Merbau Timber?

Merbau timber is a tropical hardwood from the South East Asia Pacific Islands. Its advantages as decking include its natural durability, resistance to termites, rotting and bushfire resistance.

You will find this incredible wood distinctively red-brown in colour with darker streaks running through it giving your deck a crisp and sharp appearance. Boost the value of your home or space by adding Merbau timber to your property.

Why Merbau?

Merbau is an excellent choice for outdoor decking. In addition to its aesthetic quality, it is very durable and a popular choice for outdoor furniture/other outdoor projects. Merbau wood decking uses very dense timber, meaning it will last longer than most other species without showing signs of wear and tear.

To do our part for an eco-friendly future, we source our Merbau timber from sustainable plantations that are FSC approved. We have a zero tolerance approach to illegal logging and over-exploitation.

To keep your Merbau decking looking brand new, make sure to keep it free from debris and dirt buildup by cleaning it regularly. This will prevent any gradual abrasion to the surface of the Merbau. Additionally, make sure to oil your decking every 6-24 months, depending on your manufacturer’s specifications. This will prevent discolouration and moisture damage. Contact IKA Housing for any inquiries about maintaining your decking.
